Title: Defamation vs Freedom of Speech
Post by Golfer on Sep 26th, 2003 at 4:19pm
I run a golf interest site and encourage users to send us feedback of their experiences  of courses which they play. Once checked for decency and sense, the reports are published within the site.

GIven the recent Demon ruling, is there are way in which I can disclaim responsibility for publishing 'less than glowing' reports or am I faced with having a site full of anodyne asssessments?

I have seen a competitive site with the same faciity and which has a disclaimer as follows;

''We are not responsible for any comments which can be considered as defamatory (whether by a reasonable person or not) nor shall we otherwise be responsible for any opinion, views, abuse or comments of any person (including our own and those of our contributors) and cannot accept or be otherwise liable for any loss suffered by any person as a result of the materials herein contained.'

Is this sufficient protection against irate 'club owners'?
