Title: Family Business
Post by tdstmicks on Sep 19th, 2004 at 3:09am
I have been employed by a family memer for 13 years.  The business has recently changed from a Sole Trader to a Private Limited Company.  Therefore all members of staff have been issued with new contracts of employment.  I have a few concerns regarding my own contract.

These are that employees are being contracted to use their own private vehicles for company use on request and participate in complusory overtime without any indication of rate of pay.  Also the company excludes any qualifications gained by employees  other than basic Secondary Education.

The revised contract of employment states that if requred all employees must undertake additional professional development.  However  does this effect the employees right to request courses to develop their own skills and knowledge?  And can employers turndown their requests for this?

Would be most grateful for any genuine legal advice asap!

Yours sincerely
