Title: American Lawyer to Scotland
Post by American_Lawyer on May 14th, 2005 at 3:46am
I've been practicing in America for nearly 2 years.  Moving to Edinburgh if I can find a comparable job over there.  Could someone please describe what it's like to be a Scottish solicitor.  What are the billable hour requirements?  How much do you expect to make?    Is the job market difficult to break in to?  How much vacation do you get?  Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I too am an American lawyer considering a move to Edinburgh.  I have the work permit aspect covered but am not sure how to go about getting certified to practice in Scotland.  Suggestions from any Scots (or American lawyers in Scotland!) would be appreciated.
