Title: Intellectual Property Law
Post by Pixie on Jul 4th, 2006 at 5:41pm
I will be staring my traineeship next year and have been thinking about which seats I will choose. I am extremely interested in intellectual property, among others. I would like to know if this area of law is the same UK wide, or whether there are differences between England and Scotland. Thanks for any advice on this.

IP is generally the same across the UK.

However, the differences that may occur relate to the fundamental areas of the law - i.e. contract, delict/tort etc, or the court practice for that particular jurisdiction. Even so, it is usually a case of alternating terminology, rather than substantive differences in the law.

Some of the big firms offer IP in London as well as Edinburgh/Glasgow, although the London seat is usually for second year trainees.
