Access to Traineeships
Oct 16th, 2004 at 6:15pm

Hi,

I am a final year Social Policy and Law student at Edinburgh University embarking on a dissertation examining advantage and attrition in the scottish legal profession.

I am presently trying to establish what material there is on this. My focus is on 'getting a traineeship' - i.e. the step from Diploma to training contract. I will be considering issues of gender, class, ethnicity etc and hopefully interviewing 2003-4 Diploma graduates from Edinburgh on their aspirations and actual experiences.

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of any appropriate material either in England or Scotland. I have already looked at the Scottish Executive's 'Minority and Social Diversity in Legal Education in Scotland'.

Many thanks,

Tom
