The House of Lords: Torture Evidence
Dec 10th, 2005 at 8:24am

And a great day in English History this week!
The House of Lords in England stands up to Mr. George W. Bush and declares that evidence obtained by torture will not be used as evidence in court in England.  This from a nation that was lectured to in 1776 about the inalienable rights of humankind by American colonists. How far the apple has fallen from the tree, and it appears to be mostly down hill.  To paraphrase Winston Churchill, it should make 'yer proud to be an Englishman.

You are right Dysyst, but look at it this way: Praise from a Scotsman to an Englishman is high praise indeed.
I suspect that the Scots legal system has possibly addressed this issue somewhere before but I just don't know where.
I'm tickled about the fact that Condoleeza Rice is running around Europe saying "Oh No, we don't torture",  while the european press is reporting secret CIA prisons established exactly for that reason. While she is doing that the English House of Lords sticks its finger in her eye.

What worries me most is Westminster's kowtowing to the Chinese Communist Party, an organisation whose principles go against everything that democracy stands for. Not to mention being the most prolific torturers and executioners on the planet today.
