change contract/employment
Aug 29th, 2009 at 10:35am

Have worked part time teaching at a further education college for over 10 years (initially as staff member then for last 4 years self employed) They have contacted all self employed staff saying it is now college policy for everyone to "sign up" and be a member of staff to ensure that everyone is paying tax and NI. However it transpires that in doing this we will all have a cut in wages.
Can they do this for running contracts i.e. they asked me in June to run a course this September at rate X. Can they change the goal posts? And if they cancel the class can I claim compensation.
Don't care if they take tax and NI off at source as this would save me hassle bit actually think they are using this as a cost saving exercise
