Career change: Police to Solicitor
Oct 17th, 2009 at 6:10pm

First post, so be gentle please. Wink

I'm currently a Police Officer with around 10 years service, in a promoted rank, but have become very disillusioned with the job, the bureaucracy and various other aspects of it.

I'd need to complete my DLP, as I have an LLB already, which I could do through a short career break, but the problem arises in terms of a traineeship.  I know that the general options include working in a solicitor's office or COPFS as a trainee; but are there other options out there in terms of getting that required experience?  Is there an option to work in a corporate legal department, etc to get that experience or does it have to be 'all round' experience that only COPFS/Private practice can give?

Any suggestions?
