Joint Mortgage Separated Cohabitants
Jul 4th, 2010 at 10:54am
Where an unmarried couple part and they jointly own a home, does the partner who remains in the home become responsible for the whole of the mortgage repayment or does the partner who has left also have to contribute half of the mortgage payment even though they are not living there?
When it comes to selling the home, if only the partner who resides in the home has been paying the mortgage, will the share of equity from the house be reduced for the non resident partner to take account of the sum of the resident partners sole contributions?
