Yet another Strathclyde Diploma Query
Aug 19th, 2011 at 4:34pm
i am due to start the Diploma next month. I have heard various things about students having to present in court, to a Sheriff, as part of the Criminal elective.

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this as i have never been involved in Mooting.

Yes, mooting is essential in carrying out your diploma. It's really a question of you being able to carry out the necessary legal research into whatever case you're to present on. Whichever side you're asked to take you'll likely work as part of a pair (playing junior and senior counsel). In terms of what to expect and what others will expect of you, there's a lot that goes into this, but there are some good simple guides that although English, are comparable to what will be expected of you. Have a look at these:

Hopefully that will give you an idea what you're in for. Don't be too nervous, it's just like presenting an assessment as you'll have done many times before at University. You'll get into the swing of things very quickly.
