The 2006 awards nominations appear to be looming.  Does anyone have any thoughts on whether these types of events are worthwhile?

I'd really like to know how they decide what makes a "trainee of the year". As far as I can see it's a slightly cringe-inducing display of self-promotion. And I swear am not bitter ;)

Aye - but it's the same across all industries!

Aren't they just promotional tools used by the big firms who pay for expensive advertising?

You never see anyone nominated for anything who comes from a small firm.

How are trainees nominated? - by clients or the firm itself?

Wouldn't mind winning one...;-)

Yeah, get your firm to nominate you. Just do a letter saying how wonderful you are and get one of the partners to sign it when they are busy!

;D
