Title: The Cowardice Act
Post by mevbrown on Aug 5th, 2008 at 12:50pm
Reporting Scotland ran a piece about the proposed Cowardice Act: View clip

I feel, firstly, that the charge should reflect the crime, i.e. don't charge offenders (where appropriate) with assault, GBH, etc which enhances their "street cred", but with cowardice, which would undermine it.

Secondly, will it bring about a change in social attitudes to violent/knife crime?

Thirdly, I do feel a small minority will change their ways as a result of this proposal. Even a 5% cut in knife crime would make it a worthwhile piece of legislation.

Do you agree? If not, why not?
