Title: Confused?!
Post by Miss Ahmed on Oct 13th, 2008 at 12:29am
Most would say, i have not quite done my research lol. The question is, when your lecturers go on about how competitive it is to do legal practise, does that mean you can be pushed back according to what grade you get? Or is it about whether you can fund it or whether SAAS can ? A dont quite understand ? :-/

I'm presuming from what you've written that you mean it's competitive getting into the diploma in legal practice after the degree, and not actually getting into legal practice?

Basically it's because most universities have more students graduating with the degree than places available on the diploma. And yes, it's very much the grades that will either see you through or hold you back. This is why it's a good idea to do the honours year on the degree as you'll have a straightforward classification (1st, 2.1, 2.2...) to example your work to date as opposed to a transcript of results that admissions will have to trawl through.

But they say that its all dependant upon your professional subject (eg some of the ones that are done in 1st and 2nd year). What if you think your performance was not that great? Does that mean you just have to do better in the years to come or would it be better to re-do the whole year again ?! Sorry this might sound like a daft question...but its really quite confusing! :-[
